ADHD Classroom Inventions For Teachers Workshop

 

Do you have students with ADHD in your classroom? Do you feel challenged to find the balance between the needs of your class and helping the student with ADHD learn effectively? You are not alone. This 4-hour workshop will confirm that teachers play in the lives of their students with ADHD and will provide proven strategies for teaching students.

Throughout the workshop, teachers will learn different strategies to assist students with ADHD on topics such as organization and time management, reducing typical ADHD behavior problems, explore different classroom and instructional strategies that work for you and the students with ADHD that you work with such as addressing memory deficits, improving reading and writing skills, fostering math skills, homework and long term projects.

Workshop Objectives:

-Understand the different types and causes of ADHD

-Learn how ADHD affects academic performance in elementary, middle, and high school students

-Learn the most common ADHD challenges and strategies to overcome them

-Understand how ADHD impact students organizational and time management skills and learn strategies to help

-Learn different classroom & instructional strategies addressing ADHD related topics such as memory deficits, improving reading and writing skills, fostering math skills, homework and long term projects

Outline of Workshop

Part 1 Introduction to ADHD

-Understand the types of ADHD (inattention or hyperactivity-impulsivity) and corresponding symptoms

-Learn what the causes of ADHD

-Discover the differences in brain development and executive function deficits impact learning and behavior

-Learn how ADHD affects academic performance of elementary, middle, and high school students

-What are the most common challenges in in each grade and classroom interventions for overcoming these challenges?

Part 2 Classroom and Instructional Strategies
-Explore various classroom and instructional strategies and identify the ones that work for your classroom such as memory deficits, improving reading and writing skills, fostering math skills, homework and long-term projects

Part 3 Organizational & Time Management Strategies 

-Learn how ADHD impacts students organizational and time management skills and strategies on how to help

Part 4 Managing Emotional & Behavioral Challenges 

-Learn different strategies on how to assist a student with ADHD with their emotional and behavioral challenges
